BREATHEReleasing The Potential Within

BREATHE is a project that engages and supports young people (11-18 year olds) in Highland Perthshire. Breathe aims to build relationships and through using appropriate learning tools creates an environment in which young people can discover themselves and develop.

BREATHE is overseen by the youthwork coordinator and a committee of young people who are responsible for the running and organising of the monthly event, as

BREATHE is in its infancy it is growing and changing as the young people become more confident and able.

The Town of Aberfeldy has a population of around 2000 and serves a wide area of rural Perthshire. It is home of Breadalbane Academy with nursery, primary and secondary departments (with approximate rolls of 50, 200 and 470 respectively). The secondary department takes pupils not only from the town but from a wide catchment with S5/S6 pupils also drawn from Pitlochry.

Eleven Young people from Highland Perthshire (Aberfeldy, Ballinluig & Pitlochry) have just benefitted from participating in The Pacific Institute’s Pathways to Extreme Success (PX2) certificated Programme. The young people pictured have worked extremely hard over the past year volunteering on various committees to provide youth services in their local community through Breathe, Infuse Cafe & Rock Steady. PX2 is a dynamic certificated programme targeting young people directly, addressing the challenges they experience daily. It builds on tried and tested concepts in the field of self-image psychology.
